Tonle Sap Cambodia
Looking for backpack travel escape? Today I introduce you Tonle Sap Lake in Siem Reap, Cambodia which was visited in the first day of Siem Reap Travel.
Before you subscribe the boat service in Tonle Sap Lake, check out the budget information on Siem Reap Travel Budget
If you going to Siem Reap for 5 days 4 night, Tonle Sap Lake will be the travel choice on your first day visit if you arrive in morning time.
So what’s so special about Tonle Sap lake? It was the largest fresh water lake in South East Asia

So we took out USD 10 from our pocket to pay for the boat ride fees in Tonle Sap lake.
For each of the USD 10 you paid for the boat services, USD 1 will be donated for road construction in Tonle Sap floating village.
Enjoy the ride cos’ there’s lots of water splashing activity here

Fishing was the main activity in the Tonle Sap lake and one of their catch was Amok Fish or known as ‘Ikan Amok’ for the local

Even the children that lives here do fishing too as part of their living. I am amazed when seeing this picture back to back, if we feel hard about our life what about them?

Vroom, hold still young one. Even small one knows how to operate a boat than the rest of us

See this picture? The people live in the floating house as their ‘mobile home’

From November to May which was the Cambodia dry season, the lake will drains into Mekong River at Phnom Penh.
However when the year heavy rains begin in June, the Tonle Sap will transform to an enormous lake.
The villager often move back and forth depending on the water level which was 10 meter max.

Finish your drink quick!
Your boat will eventually stop in a floating restaurant for around 1-2 hours until the sunset

The lake and not ocean has the amazing view and you can see the Halong Bay here…joking

Well, our time was not quite right as we missed out the real sunset here in the cloudy day

But we just amazed ourselves and said “This Is The Sunset, So Nice”

Any question about Tonle Sape lake? Leave a comment and I would be happy to share more
