You won’t find Sun Moon Lake but just Liyu Lake in Hualien, Taiwan. Located in the foot of Liyu Mountain and near Shoufong Township Chihnan Village, the lake is only 18 kilometers away from Hualien City.

So from Hualien City, we drove for around 20 minutes before reach to the peaceful Liyu Lake.

What is special about Liyu Lake? It has old scenic area surrounding the lake and was one of the largest inland lake in Hualien County.

A bike ride activity along the Liyu Lake would be quite relaxing but not under the hot sun

According to our driver, there’s three Liyu Lake in Taiwan and I do not know how the other differs from the one we found in Hualien

You can try to visit the other two Liyu Lake, one in Tai Chung and another one in Nantou.

I apologize for the cool look, the weather is just too hot for me and the word picnic never came across in my mind

Personally I think Liyu Lake is suitable for mind relaxing activities such as bicycling, hiking, fishing and camping.
