- Penang Famous Char Kuey TeowBy ah hong on December 31, 2008 | No Comments
In the first day in Penang, we did try out RM3 Char Kuey Teow in the Penang New Lane but quite disappointed with the plain taste

So I quickly called Uncle Tang that night to ask for his Char Kuey Teow info…
Ah Hong: Uncle Tang. What can you recommend me for Penang Char Kuey Teow…
Uncle Tang: You want special but expensive one boh…big prawn in Char Kuey Teow
Ah Hong: Yes Yes…I want as long as the Char Kuey Teow is tasty

Uncle Tang: Ok. You go Lorong Selamat there…look for Lansi Auntie Char Kuey Teow

Ah Hong: Wah…the shop name is Lansi Auntie Char Kuey Teow ah?
Uncle Tang: Forgot the real shop name liao…if you see one auntie wearing special color then it’s her liao…
Ah Hong: Ok Ok…thanks ya

So we went around Lorong Selamat in Penang to seek for this famous Penang Char Kuey Teow, and at last we found the stall in Heng Huat Kopitiam.
It was Monday noon just before the lunch time, but the Heng Huat Kopitiam was pack with tourist.
From what I heard about why this Lansi Auntie Char Kuey Teow was…
You need to queue up if you want to eat her Penang Char Kuey Teow
You need to face her lansi face when ordering the Char Kuey Teow from her
But strange, it never happens when we order our Penang Char Kuey Teow. The Char Kuey Teow was served to us in our table and no need to queue for it

I was thinking probably when comes to Saturday and Sunday then you have to queue for the Char Kuey Teow in peak hour

At last we had the RM6 Penang Char Kuey Teow, and I can say is the best Char Kuey Teow in Penang I had so far. Yes…in Penang

What is special is this Char Kuey Teow came with 3 big fresh prawn…and at least the Char Kuey Teow was not plain in taste

- Penang Chee Cheong FunBy ah hong on December 31, 2008 | No Comments
Penang Chee Cheong Fun…now I wonder why they call it special Chee Cheong Fun that must try.
This Penang Chee Cheong Fun was non different than normal Chee Cheong Fun except the sauce. Yes…the sauce is made by Hey Ko (dark prawn sauce).
The sauce make the Chee Cheong Fun more sticky…sounds special though

Still…the quality of the Chee Cheong Fun was important for this dish and I wonder what will be the taste if you combine smooth Ipoh Chee Cheong Fun with this Hey Ko (dark prawn sauce)

If you going to Penang, try out their Hey Ko Chee Cheong Fun
