You Tiao Chinese Breakfast
-
Does anyone knows what is the recipe for a good You Tiao (油條)? Our second day in Taiwan begins with the breakfast at one of the shop in Hualien which sells Yao Char Kuay (oil fried ghost) in Cantonese. Taiwanese pronounce it as yóu tiáo and this Chinese food has an old story behind to remember General Yue Fei in Song Dynasty
For those who loves You Tiao, I think the best part of this fried bread stick was the crusty feel when you bite on it
If you want to know how to make a good You Tiao, maybe Taiwan is a good place to learn as there’s lots of shop selling it for breakfast.
So we went to a shop name 美伦红茶 and have breakfast in the morning before proceed to our visit to Star Moon Lake.
Fried You Tiao Snack
So this is how the legendary You Tiao looks like, it was made as two foot long rolls and Taiwanese love to eat by mixing it with soya bean milk.
I love the soya bean milk with original taste without sweet or any other preservatives.
As for the You Tiao, the taste was just an ordinary one but is quite special to eat it with the soya bean milk
The side order 烧饼 which taste like Ipoh Heong Peng, sweet fragrant with sesame taste and another one taste like plain Chinese Dumpling
This is the one I think taste the best for breakfast, corn egg pancake (玉米蛋饼) with the cute sweet taste of the day
The total we spent for this breakfast was 147NTD for 4 person and this is just a beginning of our food craving journey.
Drop by and the You Tiao chinese breakfast out if you are visiting Hualien tomorrow
