Ipoh Ming Kok Dim Sum

  • 一路向北 group journey continues…but with a smaller and different group of people this time.

Our tip duration was 3 Day 2 Night move from South to North, which was to Ipoh – Penang and the main mission was to hunt the Penang food delicacies  onion good

This conversation happens the day before the trip begun

Vi Vi: Tomolo we go earlier ya…6pm we depart from here

    Ah Hong: 6am issit…hahaha…blur again ah you…

Yen Yen: Make sure you all come on time! I do not want to miss the Ipoh dim sum!

Ah Hong: Since last week we eat Ipoh Foh San dim sum…this time we go try Ming Kok dim sum ya

Giraffe: That Ming Kok dim sum ah…Ah Xian got recommend one wor…

Swee Swee: Ah Xian ah…can trust one boh…anyway we go try la…don’t be late ya

So we arrive in Ipoh for morning dim sum at 8.30am. Ming Kok dim sum restaurant was just near the Ipoh Parade there. Sorry, I didn’t tag the location in Google Maps this time ;)

The restaurant was packed with people, but it has different environment compares to Foh San dim sum restaurant…air con.

Yes, the restaurant was in closed air and you will feel the breeze of the air con.

I got a bad feeling because the cool air will impact the texture taste of a dim sum onion no

My feeling was served right, once we had our seat…all the waitress came in rush to offer us all the dim sum in Ming Kok restaurant. This…that…this…that…we point our dim sum in rush too. Damn gan jeong…is like food ordering war like that.

Is this a fast food dim sum franchise restaurant?

So we got all our dim sum in less than few minutes…and we were shock because it was too much for 5 of us onion-shock

Plus those dim sum was brought in tray and not those steam trolley onion sweat so we worry on the taste now.

When I “kiap” the dim sum with chopstick…I will kiap 3 dim sum at 1 time. What is this? The dim sum was stick to each other in this cool & dry condition. If they serve the dim sum one by one and in the steam trolley instead of tray, it should be better.

I can’t memorize what is the dim sum “so so” taste I had…but I just remember they have a good fish ball.

So next time when you go Ming Kok dim sum restaurant, try out the fish ball dim sum only ya onion laugh

Thanks for giraffe comment, the dim sum in Ipoh Foh san was much way better. Reasons being are:
    1) The environment in Foh San is more relaxing and you will see more old people ‘tan char’ there … feeling good
    2) The dim sum’s size is bigger in Foh San (even it’s not as variety as Mxxx Kxx Dim Sum)
    3) Ingredients used are better quality and fresh (the prawns are big!!!).
