Drunken Prawns Recipe
Heard of Drunken Prawns or so called Jumping Alive Prawns before? After our tour in Liyu Lake in Hualien, we wander around the small town in search for the special cuisine recipe.
We end up in a shop name 阿珠小吃 for late breakfast. Surprisingly, the shop only serves fruit juice and drunken prawns for breakfast and we were quite curious on how the cuisine taste like?
Curiosity, curiosity and curiosity? That’s the factor for us to drop an order for the 100 NTD Drunken Prawns (活跳虾).
How To Cook Drunken Prawns?
Don’t be shock like us when you see how the Drunken Prawns going to be serve on your table.
Technically there’s no cooking or gas needed to prepare this dish, and you might wondering why the bowl has movement activity inside.
Fresh and alive prawns was drop into the bowl which contains special sauce with chili and ginger.
The special sauce will make the prawns jump around and drunk at last.
That’s how the name of Drunken Prawns came and some people opt to cook the prawns in the end especially Malaysian.
Quite special dish and there’s nothing wrong with the taste, but one time ‘eating prawns alive’ experience is enough for me.
Luckily I have something else good to have in the end of the food craving.
